Choosing an RV mattress is not like choosing a bed for your home. In fact, an RV mattress can be somewhat more difficult to choose than a typical bed for your home. There are many features that you may not need, depending on your particular needs. However, the basic features that most people look for when they go shopping are size, firmness, resilience and cost.

Most of today's high-end RVs have a king or queen mattress and the comforters are built into the base of the mattress. Typically, the North America Mattress manufacturers recommend that you get a minimum thickness of 3 inches in order to avoid having to buy another queen sized comforter after you have used up the first one. The majority of modern-day rv mattresses offer either memory foam top layers or a viscoelastic foam top layer. Foam top layers provide more firmness, yet are less prone to "sag." Meanwhile, a viscoelastic foam top layer has excellent resilience, especially when compared to traditional memory foam layers.

You may also want to consider air mattresses. Air mattresses offer numerous benefits, including increased air circulation, and reduced exposure to dust and pollen. However, air mattresses come in two basic sizes: twin and full. In addition, there are twin, full and queen air mattresses in various sizes. Keep in mind that these sizes vary according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Another important feature to look for is the mattress's firmness level. Most owners recommend a mattress that is at least 3 inches thick. In addition, most owners prefer to sleep on a bed that has at least three inch spacing between adjoining pillows. The largest spacing is at least seven inches between adjoining pillows on a king size mattress. Read more here on finding the right RV mattress size.

On the other hand, if you're looking for an innerspring mattress, you might be concerned about the cost. Fortunately, most innerspring mattresses provide an option called latex foam mattresses. Latex foam mattresses provide the benefits of a traditional innerspring mattress with the advantage of providing extreme comfort thanks to its material, which is both soft and durable. Typically, most latex foam mattresses come in twin, full, queen and king sizes. As an added benefit, latex foam mattresses tend to last longer than traditional innerspring mattresses.

There are certainly a lot of factors that can help you decide which type of RV mattress size would be best for you. For instance, if you often travel with family and share beds, you'll obviously want to go with a larger mattress. However, before you make your final decision, it's important to weigh the benefits and disadvantages of both a traditional mattress and a mattress filled with latex foam.
